أنا لستُ كاتبَ هذه الملحمة فقط، بل أحدُ الذين وُلدوا من رحمه 
لم أكتب هذه الملحمة لأُجسّد رحلة القباني في الزمن،
I did not write this epic to portray al-Qabbani’s journey through time,
بل لأشهد كيف أن الزمن نفسه ما زال يسير على خشبة المسرح.
But to witness how time itself still walks the stage.
 
وإن كنتَ تسأل: لماذا الآن؟ ولماذا أنا؟
And if you ask: why now? and why me?
فأجيبك:
I answer you:
لأن الفن لم يعد ترفًا… بل صار وسيلةَ بقاء.
Because art is no longer a luxury… it has become a means of survival.
ولأن دمشق لا تبحث عمّن يحنّ إليها، بل عمّن يحملها إلى الغد.
And because Damascus does not seek someone who longs for her, but someone who carries her into tomorrow.
 
أكتب من نيويورك…
I write from New York…
لا كغريبٍ يبحث عن وطن،
Not as a stranger searching for a homeland,
بل كمهندسٍ يحاول أن يبني وطنًا من الكلمة، ومن الصورة، ومن المسرح.
But as an architect attempting to build a homeland from word, image, and stage.
