In an age when cities became denser, taller, and increasingly anxious about their future, an architect appeared who did not merely ask: How do we build?

He asked a more dangerous question: How can life itself become more beautiful inside what we build?

He did not see the city as a collection of buildings waiting to be filled with people.

He saw it as a vast organism that moves, breathes, plays, climbs, descends, and searches for light.

In his architecture, a roof refuses to remain merely a roof.

It wants to become a garden.

The street refuses to stop at the building’s door.

It wants to climb its façade toward the sky.

It is not the epic of a man who draws strange forms.
بل ملحمة عقل قرر أن العمارة لا ينبغي أن تكتفي بإيواء الإنسان.
It is the epic of a mind that decided architecture should do more than shelter humanity.

It should give him a reason to love the place in which he lives.

And I see it as life before it becomes architecture.

That is why I do not want to write about Bjarke Ingels as architectural magazines do.

I want to enter his buildings.

To climb their ramps.
أن أقف فوق أسطحها.
To stand upon their roofs.
أن أسمع ضحكات الأطفال بين شرفاتها.
To hear children laughing between their balconies.
وأن أسأل المبنى نفسه: لماذا وُلدت بهذه الصورة؟
And to ask the building itself: Why were you born this way?
