I am Imad Darwish, an architect from Damascus, born among the houses of Jisreen and the gardens of Ghouta.كل حجر في جسرين يحفظ اسمي، وكل ياسمينة فيها خبأت طفولتي.
Every stone in Jisreen keeps my name, and every jasmine there sheltered my childhood.لكن جسرين لم تبقَ قرية للحلم فقط، بل صارت قرية للذاكرة: ذاكرة الحرب، والدمار، والغياب.
Yet Jisreen did not remain a village of dreams alone, but became a village of memory: of war, of ruin, of absence.
حين أكتب عنها، لا أكتب عن مكان جغرافي، بل عن قوسٍ بين الماضي والحاضر، عن جرحٍ مفتوح في الروح، عن ياسمينٍ يبكي لأنه لا يجد جدارًا يتسلّق عليه.
When I write about her, I do not write about a geographic place, but about an arch between past and present, an open wound in the soul, a jasmine weeping for lack of a wall to climb.وهذه القصيدة التي أبدأ بها، "جسرين: ذاكرة الغوطة وبكاء الياسمين"، ليست رثاءً فقط، بل محاولة لبناء جسرٍ من الكلمات بين الركام والحلم، بين القرية الممزقة والمدينة التي ما زالت تعيش في القلب.
And this poem I begin, "Jisreen: The Memory of Ghouta and the Weeping Jasmine," is not merely an elegy, but an attempt to build a bridge of words between rubble and dream, between the torn village and the city that still lives in the heart.جسرين
