حين تهمس الأرض للمعماري
When the Earth Whispers to the Architect
 
أحيانًا لا تكتب كتابًا… بل يكتبك الكتاب.
Sometimes you don’t write a book… the book writes you.
وهذه الملحمة ليست رواية عن معماري فقط،
And this epic is not merely a story about an architect,
بل عن إنسانٍ حاول أن يسمع صوت الأرض
But about a human who tried to hear the voice of the earth
قبل أن ينطفئ الضوء في داخله.
Before the light inside him dimmed.
في حضرة أنطوان بريدُوك،
In the presence of Antoine Predock,
لم أكن أدوّن سيرته…
I was not documenting his life…
كنت أدوّن انعكاسي فيه،
I was documenting my reflection in him,
وصوتي وهو يختبر حجارة العالم
And my voice as it tested the stones of the world
وأجنحته التي حاولت أن تطير.
And the wings that tried to fly.
هذه الصفحات كتبتها
These pages I wrote
كما يكتب الإنسان اعترافه الأخير،
As a person writes his final confession,
وكما يكتب الناجي رسالته إلى الحياة
And as a survivor writes his letter to life
بعد أن أدرك أن المعنى أهم من البقاء.
After realizing that meaning is more important than survival.

Here…
ستجدون عمارةً لا تقف على الأرض،
You will find architecture that does not stand on the ground,
بل على صمت الروح،
But on the silence of the soul,
وعلى الأسئلة التي لا يطرحها إلا الذين
And on the questions asked only by those
مرّوا قرب الضوء من دون أن يلمسوه.
Who passed near the light without touching it.
كتبت هذه الملحمة
I wrote this epic
لا لأحفظ إرث رجل،
Not to preserve one man’s legacy,
بل لأحفظ اللحظة التي اكتشفت فيها
But to preserve the moment in which I discovered
أن العمارة ليست مباني…
That architecture is not buildings…
بل طريقة الإنسان في أن يتكلّم مع الكون.
But the way a human speaks to the universe.
وإذا شعر أحدكم بأن جزءًا من هذا الكتاب
And if any of you feels that part of this book
قد لامس شيئًا لم يلمسه أحد من قبل،
Touched something no one touched before,
فاعلموا أن هذا بالضبط ما كنت أريده.
Know that this is exactly what I intended.
