أنا عماد درويش، معماري من دمشق، أقف أمام لوحة "غيرنيكا" كما أقف أمام مدينة محطّمة.
I am Imad Darwish, an architect from Damascus, standing before *Guernica* as I stand before a shattered city.

غيرنيكا ليست لوحة فحسب، بل صرخة جماعية، مرآة للحرب الأهلية الإسبانية، ومرآة لدمشق وحلب والغوطة وكل مدينة ذاقت نار الطائرات.
*Guernica* is not merely a painting, but a collective scream, a mirror of the Spanish Civil War, and a mirror of Damascus, Aleppo, Ghouta, and every city scorched by planes.
إلى الأمهات اللواتي فقدن أبناءهن في الليل،
To the mothers who lost their children in the night,

إلى الجدران التي حفظت الصرخة ولم تنطق،
To the walls that kept the scream and did not speak,

إلى كل مدينة صارت لوحةً تُعلّق في متحف بدل أن تعيش في قلب أهلها.
To every city that became a painting hung in a museum instead of living in the hearts of its people.
