Ankara… When Syria Returned to the Table

ليست كل اللحظات تُقاس بالدقائق.Not every moment is measured in minutes.

بعضها يُقاس بعقودٍ من الانتظار.Some are measured in decades of waiting.

عندما وصل الرئيس أحمد الشرع إلى أنقرة للمشاركة في اللقاءات التي عُقدت على هامش قمة الناتو،When President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in Ankara for meetings held on the sidelines of the NATO Summit,

لم يكن ذلك لأن سوريا أصبحت عضوًا في الحلف.It was not because Syria had become a NATO member.

بل لأن السياسة تعرف أحيانًا كيف تفتح أبوابًا تعجز الحروب عن فتحها.It was because diplomacy can sometimes open doors that wars never could.

وفي تلك القاعات،Inside those halls,

التقى الرئيس السوري بالرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب.The Syrian president met U.S. President Donald Trump.

وكانت الصورة وحدها تحمل رسالة تتجاوز الكلمات.The image itself carried a message beyond words.

فالأمم لا تُقاس فقط بما خسرته،Nations are not measured only by what they have lost,

بل بما تستطيع استعادته.But by what they are able to regain.

بعد سنواتٍ من الحرب والعزلة والعقوبات،After years of war, isolation, and sanctions,

بدأت سوريا تعود إلى لغة الحوار الدولي.Syria has begun returning to the language of international diplomacy.

وليس كل لقاءٍ يصنع التاريخ،Not every meeting changes history,

لكن التاريخ كثيرًا ما يبدأ بلقاء.Yet history often begins with one.

فالسياسة ليست صورةً تذكارية،Politics is not a souvenir photograph.

بل بناءٌ طويل من الثقة والمصالح والمسؤولية.It is a long construction of trust, interests, and responsibility.

أنقرة لم تكن نهاية الطريق،Ankara was not the end of the journey,

بل كانت محطةً تشير إلى أن سوريا تحاول العودة إلى موقعها بين الأمم.It was a milestone signaling Syria's effort to reclaim its place among nations.

قد تختلف الآراء حول الأشخاص،People may disagree about leaders,

لكن اللحظات التاريخية تبقى ملكًا للتاريخ.But historic moments ultimately belong to history.

والدول تُبنى بالحوار كما تُحمى بالقوة،Nations are built through dialogue as surely as they are defended by strength,

ويظل السلام المستقر أصعب إنجازٍ سياسي.And lasting peace remains the most difficult political achievement of all.

أنقرة... عندما جلس التاريخ على طاولةٍ جديدة

Ankara… When History Took a New Seat

لم يكن المشهد عاديًا.It was not an ordinary scene.

ولم تكن أنقرة مجرد مدينة تستضيف قمةً عسكرية.Nor was Ankara merely hosting a military summit.

هناك، حيث اجتمع قادة أقوى تحالفٍ دفاعي في العالم،There, where the leaders of the world's strongest defense alliance gathered,

حضرت سوريا ضيفًا على هامش القمة، لا عضوًا في الحلف.Syria attended as a guest on the summit's sidelines, not as a NATO member.

لكن التاريخ لا يسأل دائمًا عن بطاقة العضوية.History does not always ask for a membership card.

إنه يسأل أحيانًا سؤالًا واحدًا:Sometimes it asks only one question:

هل عادت الدولة إلى الحوار؟Has the nation returned to dialogue?

وفي أنقرة،In Ankara,

قد لا تُغيّر المصافحة العالم.A handshake alone may not change the world.

لكنها قد تفتح الباب الذي عجزت المدافع عن فتحه.But it may open a door that cannons never could.

فالدول العظيمة لا تُولد من الحروب وحدها،Great nations are not born from wars alone,

بل من القدرة على تحويل الخصومة إلى حوار،But from the ability to transform rivalry into dialogue,

والقطيعة إلى تفاوض،Estrangement into negotiation,

والألم إلى فرصة جديدة.And pain into a new opportunity.

أنقرة لم تكن نهاية الطريق.Ankara was not the end of the road.

كانت بداية فصلٍ جديد،It was the beginning of a new chapter,

عنوانه أن سوريا تحاول أن تستعيد مكانها بين الأمم،One in which Syria seeks to reclaim its place among nations,

لا بقوة الشعارات،Not through slogans,

بل بقوة الدولة،But through the strength of statehood,

والدبلوماسية،Diplomacy,

والمصلحة الوطنية.And the national interest.

فالسياسة الحقيقية،For true statesmanship,

ليست أن تربح معركةً واحدة،Is not winning a single battle,

بل أن تمنح شعبك فرصةً ليربح المستقبل.But giving your people a chance to win the future.
