ليست كل المدن تُعرَف بناطحات سحابها... فبعض المدن تُعرَف بمآذنها.Not every city is remembered by its skyscrapers... some are remembered by their minarets.

نبض المدينة  The Heartbeat of the City

في قلب مانهاتن، حيث لا يتوقف الزمن، يقف هذا المسجد ليُذكّر الإنسان بأن للروح موعدًا لا تؤجله الحياة.In the heart of Manhattan, where time never seems to stop, this mosque reminds humanity that the soul has an appointment life cannot postpone.

الحلم  The Dream

بدأ هذا المسجد فكرةً في قلوب رجالٍ آمنوا بأن الإيمان يستطيع أن يجد له وطنًا في أكثر مدن العالم تنوعًا.This mosque began as an idea in the hearts of people who believed that faith could find a home in one of the world's most diverse cities.

البناء  The Construction

لم تُرفع جدرانه بالحجارة وحدها، بل بجهود آلاف المؤمنين الذين رأوا في كل حجر رسالةً للمستقبل.Its walls were raised not only with stone, but with the hopes of thousands who believed every stone carried a message for the future.

العمارة  Architecture

هنا تلتقي القبة الإسلامية بخط أفق نيويورك، دون صراع، بل في حوارٍ بين حضارتين.Here the Islamic dome meets the New York skyline, not in conflict, but in a dialogue between two civilizations.

القبلة  The Qibla

قد تختلف اتجاهات الشوارع، لكن القلوب هنا تتجه جميعها نحو قبلةٍ واحدة.The streets may run in many directions, yet every heart here turns toward one Qibla.

المئذنة  The Minaret

لا تنافس المئذنة الأبراج في الارتفاع، بل تذكّرها أن السماء أعلى من كل بناء.The minaret does not compete with skyscrapers in height; it reminds them that heaven stands above every structure.

المحراب  The Mihrab

في هذا المحراب سجدت جباهٌ جاءت من قاراتٍ مختلفة، لكنها وجدت ربًا واحدًا.Within this mihrab, foreheads from many continents bowed before the One God.

الإنسان Humanity

العربي، والإفريقي، والآسيوي، والأوروبي، والأميركي... يقفون في صفٍ واحد، فلا يسبق غنيٌّ فقيرًا، ولا يعلو لونٌ على لون.Arab, African, Asian, European, and American stand shoulder to shoulder, where wealth grants no privilege and color claims no superiority.

الرسالة  The Mission

المسجد ليس مكانًا للصلاة فقط، بل مدرسةٌ للعلم، وبيتٌ للحكمة، وجسرٌ للتعارف بين الشعوب.A mosque is not merely a place of prayer; it is a school of knowledge, a house of wisdom, and a bridge between peoples.

نيويورك والإسلام  New York and Islam

في مدينةٍ تتحدث بكل لغات الأرض، يتحدث هذا المسجد لغةً يفهمها الجميع... لغة السلام.In a city that speaks every language on earth, this mosque speaks one language understood by all—the language of peace.

رؤية معمارية  An Architect's Vision

كمعماري، لا أرى الخرسانة والرخام فقط، بل أرى فكرةً تحولت إلى فضاءٍ يحتضن الإنسان والإيمان معًا.As an architect, I see more than concrete and marble; I see an idea transformed into a space embracing both humanity and faith.

ملحمة المسجد 

 The Epic of the Mosque

هناك مبانٍ تُشيَّد لتُبهر العيون، وهناك مبانٍ تُشيَّد لتوقظ الضمير.Some buildings are raised to impress the eye, while others are raised to awaken the conscience.

وهذا المسجد لم يُبنَ ليكون أجمل مباني مانهاتن، بل ليكون أجمل ما في الإنسان.This mosque was not built to become Manhattan's most beautiful building, but to reveal the finest within the human spirit.

كل سجدةٍ فيه تكتب سطرًا جديدًا في تاريخ الإسلام بأمريكا.Every prostration here writes another line in the history of Islam in America.

وكل أذانٍ يرتفع منه يعلن أن الإيمان لا تعوقه الحدود، ولا تمنعه المسافات.Every Adhan rising from this place proclaims that faith is never limited by borders nor restrained by distance.

The Epic of the Minaret That Changed Manhattan's Skyline

لم يولد هذا المسجد من الإسمنت... بل وُلد من فكرة.This mosque was not born from concrete... it was born from an idea.

وفكرةٌ عظيمة تستطيع أن تعيش أطول من الحجر.A great idea can outlive stone.

في أوائل ستينيات القرن العشرين، اجتمع سفراء الدول الإسلامية لدى الأمم المتحدة.In the early 1960s, ambassadors from Muslim nations at the United Nations came together.

لم يجتمعوا ليوقعوا اتفاقية سياسية.They did not gather to sign a political agreement.

بل اجتمعوا ليبنوا بيتًا لله في قلب نيويورك.They gathered to build a House of God in the heart of New York.

كانت تلك لحظةً هادئة...It was a quiet moment...

لكن التاريخ كثيرًا ما يبدأ بالهدوء.Yet history often begins in silence.

سنواتٌ طويلة مرت قبل أن يصبح الحلم حقيقة.Many years passed before the dream became reality.

وكانت كل سنة تضيف إلى المشروع إيمانًا جديدًا.Each passing year added new faith to the project.

في عام 1987 وُضع حجر الأساس.In 1987, the cornerstone was laid.

ولم يكن حجرًا عاديًا.It was not an ordinary stone.

بل كان إعلانًا بأن الإسلام أصبح جزءًا من مستقبل المدينة.It proclaimed that Islam had become part of the city's future.

اختير مكتب Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)  لتصميم المسجدThe architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) was selected to design the mosque.

وهو أحد أشهر المكاتب المعمارية في العالم.It is one of the world's most renowned architectural firms.

صُمم المسجد ليحاور مانهاتن...The mosque was designed to converse with Manhattan...

لا ليقلّدها، ولا ليعارضها.Not to imitate it, nor to oppose it.

القبة هنا ليست زينةً معمارية.The dome here is not merely an architectural ornament.

إنها رمزٌ لوحدة السماء فوق البشر جميعًاIt symbolizes the unity of the heavens above all humanity.

والمئذنة ليست سباقًا مع الأبراج.The minaret is not racing against skyscrapers.

إنها تذكيرٌ بأن الارتفاع الحقيقي يبدأ من الداخل.It is a reminder that true elevation begins within.

وفي الخامس والعشرين من سبتمبر عام 1991 افتُتح المسجد رسميًا.On September 25, 1991, the mosque was officially inaugurated.

وحضر الافتتاح أمير دولة الكويت الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح.The inauguration was attended by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

وساهمت أكثر من ستٍ وأربعين دولة إسلامية في تمويل المشروع.More than forty-six Muslim-majority nations contributed to the project's funding.

ومنذ ذلك اليوم، لم يعد هذا المبنى مجرد مسجد.From that day forward, this building was no longer just a mosque.

أصبح عنوانًا للحوار.It became an address for dialogue.

ومدرسةً للعلم.A school of knowledge.

وجسرًا بين الحضارات.A bridge between civilizations.

دخل هذا المسجد آلاف المسلمين.Thousands of Muslims have entered this mosque.

ودخله أيضًا آلاف الزائرين من مختلف الأديان والثقافات.It has also welcomed thousands of visitors from many faiths and cultures.

وجاء إليه دبلوماسيون يعملون في الأمم المتحدة.Diplomats serving at the United Nations have prayed and visited here.

ودرس فيه طلاب من جامعات نيويورك.Students from New York's universities have learned here.

وتعرّف فيه كثيرون إلى الإسلام لأول مرة.Many encountered Islam here for the very first time.

في داخله تختفي الفوارق.Inside its walls, differences disappear.

لا أحد يسأل عن لون البشرة.No one asks about the color of your skin.

ولا عن اللغة.Nor about your language.

ولا عن الجنسية.Nor about your nationality.

فالصف الواحد يجعل الجميع متساوين.A single prayer row makes everyone equal.

هذا المسجد لا يعلّم الناس كيف يبنون القباب.This mosque does not teach people how to build domes.

إنه يعلّمهم كيف يبنون الإنسان.It teaches them how to build the human spirit.

ولا يعلّمهم كيف ترتفع المآذن.Nor does it teach how minarets rise.

بل كيف ترتفع الأخلاق.It teaches how character rises.

قد ينسى الناس أسماء المهندسين.People may forget the names of architects.

وقد تتغير خرائط المدن.City maps may change.

لكن البيوت التي يُذكر فيها اسم الله...But the houses where the name of God is remembered...

تبقى حاضرةً في ذاكرة الزمن.Remain forever in the memory of time.

ولهذا، فإن المركز الإسلامي في نيويورك ليس مجرد عنوان على شارع.For this reason, the Islamic Cultural Center of New York is far more than a street address.

إنه شاهدٌ على أن الإيمان يستطيع أن يجد مكانه في أعظم مدن العالم.It stands as proof that faith can find its place in one of the world's greatest cities.

وأن المآذن لا تنافس ناطحات السحاب...And that minarets do not compete with skyscrapers...

بل تذكّرها بأن السماء ستظل أعلى من كل بناء.They remind them that heaven will always stand higher than every building.

خاتمة  Conclusion

قد تبني المدن أبراجًا تلامس السحاب، لكن المساجد وحدها تبني إنسانًا يلامس السماء بقلبه.Cities may build towers that touch the clouds, but only mosques build souls that reach heaven with their hearts.

حكمة الفصل  Wisdom

إذا كانت ناطحات السحاب رمز قوة المدينة، فإن المسجد رمز قوة الضمير.If skyscrapers symbolize the strength of a city, the mosque symbolizes the strength of its conscience..
