Saadallah Jabri – The Architect Who Built a City

بعض الرجال يتركون خلفهم بيتًا... وآخرون يتركون مدينةً كاملة.Some men leave behind a house… others leave behind an entire city.

ولد سعدالله جبري في دمشق، لكنه عاش ليجعل دمشق أكبر مما ورثها.Saadallah Jabri was born in Damascus, but lived to make Damascus greater than he inherited it.

لم يكن يبحث عن المجد الشخصي، بل عن حلٍ لأزمة سكنٍ كانت تخنق العاصمة.He sought no personal glory, only a solution to a housing crisis that burdened the capital.

رأى في التلال الجرداء مستقبلًا، بينما لم يرَ الآخرون سوى الصخور.He saw a future in barren hills where others saw only rocks.

ومن فكرةٍ واحدة، وُلد مشروع دمر السكني.From a single vision, the Dummar Housing Project was born.

خمسة آلاف منزل لم تكن مجرد أبنية.Five thousand homes were never just buildings.

كانت خمسة آلاف حلمٍ أصبح حقيقة.They were five thousand dreams brought to life.

ثلاثون ألف إنسان وجدوا وطنًا صغيرًا داخل وطنهم.More than thirty thousand people found a home within their homeland.

لم يبنِ الشقق فقط، بل بنى مجتمعًا كاملًا.He did not merely build apartments; he built an entire community.

جمع الأطباء والمهندسين والمعلمين والمحامين والتجار تحت فكرةٍ واحدة.He united doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, and merchants around one vision.

أن يكون السكن حقًا لا امتيازًا.That decent housing should be a right, not a privilege.

كانت العمارة بالنسبة إليه رسالةً اجتماعية قبل أن تكون مهنة.To him, architecture was a social mission before it was a profession.

لكن أعظم المشاريع غالبًا ما تواجه أعظم العقبات.Yet the greatest projects often face the greatest obstacles.

عندما رفض الرشوة، اختار أن يخسر السلطة ولا يخسر ضميره.When he refused bribery, he chose to lose power rather than lose his conscience.

دفع ثمن نزاهته غربةً طويلة.He paid for his integrity with a lifetime of exile.

غادر سوريا بعد أن سلّم المشروع لأصحابه.He left Syria only after delivering the project to its rightful owners.

وحمل دمشق معه إلى السعودية، ثم إلى الولايات المتحدة.He carried Damascus with him to Saudi Arabia, then to the United States.

كان يعيش بعيدًا عن المدينة التي صنعها.He lived far away from the city he had created.

لكن المدن لا تنسى آباءها الحقيقيين.Cities never forget their true founders.

رحل في دالاس عام 2022.He passed away in Dallas in 2022.

ورحل الجسد فقط.Only his body departed.

أما الفكرة فما زالت تسكن آلاف البيوت.His vision still lives in thousands of homes.

كل شرفة في دمر تحمل جزءًا من حلمه.Every balcony in Dummar carries a fragment of his dream.

وكل شارع فيها يروي قصة مهندسٍ آمن بالوطن.Every street tells the story of an architect who believed in his country.

إن أعظم المعماريين لا يُقاسون بعدد الأبنية التي صمموها.The greatest architects are not measured by the number of buildings they designed.

بل بعدد الأرواح التي غيّروا حياتها.They are measured by the number of lives they transformed.
