بدأت الكارثة.

The catastrophe began.

كما تبدأ معظم الكوارث.

As most catastrophes begin.

بفكرة صغيرة.

With a small idea.

وبمعماري متحمس.

And an enthusiastic architect.

وبزبون قال الجملة المشؤومة.

And a client who uttered the cursed phrase.

أريد فقط تعديلًا بسيطًا.

I only want a small modification.

ساد الصمت.

Silence filled the universe.

لأن كلمة.

Because the phrase.

تعديل بسيط.

Small modification.

هي أكثر الجمل رعبًا.

Is the most terrifying sentence.

في تاريخ العمارة.

In the history of architecture.

قال المعماري:

The architect replied.

ما هو التعديل؟

What is the modification?

قال الزبون:

The client answered.

شرفة صغيرة فقط.

Just a small balcony.

لا أكثر.

The architect laughed.

وقال:

الأمر بسيط.

It is simple.

لكن الشرفة نفسها.

اعترضت فورًا.

وقالت:

أنا فكرة فلسفية.

I am a philosophical idea.

أنا موقف وجودي.

أنا العلاقة الأزلية.

I am the eternal relationship.

بين الإنسان والسماء.

Between humanity and the sky.

وهنا بدأت المشاكل.

And there the problems began.

هذه ليست شرفة.

This is not a balcony.

بل منصة مراقبة كونية.

It is a cosmic observation platform.

من هنا.

كان الإنسان القديم.

Ancient humanity.

يراقب القمر.

Watched the moon.

كان العشاق.

Lovers.

يتبادلون الرسائل.

أن تصبح بطلة الرواية.

To become the heroine of the story.

بعد أسبوع.

One week later.

أصبح طول الشرفة.

The balcony's length.

أكبر من المبنى.

Became greater than the building.

وبعد شهر.

After a month.

أصبحت أكبر من الحي.

It became larger than the neighborhood.

وبعد عام.

After a year.

أصبحت أكبر من المدينة.

It became larger than the city.

عندها تدخلت بلدية المجرة.

At that point the Galactic Municipality intervened.

وأرسلت إنذارًا رسميًا.

And issued an official warning.

إلى كوكب الأرض.

To Planet Earth.

جاء فيه:

It stated.

يرجى السيطرة.

Please control.

على الشرفة رقم 17.

Balcony Number 17.

لأنها تجاوزت مدار المريخ.

As it has crossed the orbit of Mars.

وتسببت باختناق مروري.

And caused a traffic jam.

بين مذنبين.

Between two comets.

وثلاث مجرات.

And three galaxies.

لكن الشرفة.

But the balcony.

رفضت الامتثال.

Refused compliance.

وقالت:

And declared.

لقد سئمت الحدود.

I am tired of limits.

أريد أن أرى.

I want to see.

ما وراء الكون.

Beyond the universe.

فصفق غاودي.

Gaudí applauded.

بحماس شديد.

With great enthusiasm.

أما لو كوربوزييه.

As for Le Corbusier.

فأصيب بالإغماء.

He fainted.

لأن الشرفة.

Because the balcony.

لم تعد تتبع أي نظام هندسي معروف.

هنا انتهت العمارة.

Here architecture ended.

وبدأ علم الفلك.

And astronomy began.

أو ربما.

اجتمع جميع المعماريين.

All architects gathered.

في قاعة المؤتمرات الكونية.

Inside the Cosmic Conference Hall.

حضر غاودي.

Gaudí attended.

ولو كوربوزييه.

Le Corbusier.

وحسن فتحي.

Hassan Fathy.

وفرانك لويد رايت.

Frank Lloyd Wright.

وزها حديد.

And Zaha Hadid.

وسألهم رئيس المجرة:

The President of the Galaxy asked them.

من المسؤول؟

Who is responsible?

ساد الصمت.

Silence followed.

ثم أشار الجميع.

Then everyone pointed.

إلى الزبون.

At the client.

الذي قال:

Who had said.

أريد تعديلًا بسيطًا فقط.

I only want a small modification.

عندها أُغلقت الجلسة.

The session was adjourned.

وأُدرجت هذه العبارة.

And that phrase was recorded.
