Not every battle is fought with concrete.

وليست كل العمارة تُرسم على الورق.

Not all architecture is drawn on paper.

بعض المعارك تُخاض بالكلمة.

Some battles are fought with words.

وبعض المباني تُبنى في الوعي.

Some buildings are built in public consciousness.

وهنا تبرز أنجيلا برادي.

And here emerges Angela Brady.

المعمارية الأيرلندية البريطانية.

The Irish-born British architect.

التي لم تكتفِ بتصميم المباني.

Who refused to design buildings alone.

بل حاولت إعادة تصميم الحوار.

She sought to redesign the conversation itself.

بين العمارة والمجتمع.

Between architecture and society.

ولدت في أيرلندا.

She was born in Ireland.

ثم صنعت حضورها المهني.

Then forged her professional presence.

في بريطانيا.

In Britain.

لتصبح واحدة من أبرز الأصوات.

To become one of the strongest voices.

In contemporary British architecture.

Architectural institutions.

لكنها لم تنظر للمنصب.

Yet she never viewed the position.

كمجرد لقب إداري.

As an administrative title.

بل كمنبرٍ للتغيير.

But as a platform for change.

كانت ترى أزمةً صامتة.

She saw a silent crisis.

تنمو في المدن البريطانية.

Growing across British cities.

صفوف طويلة من المنازل.

Rows of repetitive houses.

متشابهة الشكل.

Identical in appearance.

متشابهة الروح.

Identical in spirit.

متشابهة الأحلام.

Identical in ambition.

منازل بلا شخصية.

Homes without character.

وبلا خيال.

Without imagination.

وبلا كرامة مكانية.

Without spatial dignity.

أطلقت عليها اسمًا ساخرًا.

She gave them a memorable name.

صناديق نودي.

Noddy Boxes.

كأنها ألعاب متكررة.

Like endlessly repeated toys.

صغيرة ومزدحمة.

Small and overcrowded.

تُنتج بالجملة.

Mass-produced.

كما تُنتج السلع الرخيصة.

Like disposable products.

وكان سؤالها بسيطًا.

Her question was simple.

لكنه خطير.

Yet deeply unsettling.

هل نبني للناس؟

Are we building for people?

أم نبني للأرقام؟

Or merely for statistics?

هل أصبح السكن سلعة؟

Has housing become a commodity?

أم ما زال حقًا إنسانيًا؟

Or is it still a human right?

في مقابلة شهيرة.

In a famous interview.

مع صحيفة الغارديان.

With The Guardian.

قالت شيئًا يستحق التأمل.

She said something profound.

علينا إعادة التفكير.

We must rethink.

في طريقة عيشنا.

How we live.

وطريقة لعبنا.

How we play.

وطريقة بناء مستقبلنا.

How we build our future.

كانت تدرك أن القرن القادم.

She understood the coming century.

لن يكون قرن الأبراج فقط.

Would not be about towers alone.

بل عن البيئة.

But about the environment.

وعن الطاقة.

And energy.

وعن العدالة الاجتماعية.

And social justice.

وعن الكربون.

And carbon reduction.

وعن جودة الحياة.

And quality of life.

رأت أن المعماري.

She believed the architect.

ليس رسام واجهات.

Is not a facade designer.

ولا صانع صور.

Nor a producer of images.

بل وصي على المستقبل.

But a guardian of the future.

وحارس للموارد.

A steward of resources.

ومدافع عن الإنسان.

And an advocate for humanity.

كانت تؤمن أن المدن.

She believed cities.

يجب أن تُصمم للناس.

Must be designed for people.

لا للمضاربين.

Not speculators.

ولا للمستثمرين وحدهم.

Nor investors alone.

كانت تؤمن أن الطفل.

She believed a child.

يستحق ضوء الشمس.

Deserves sunlight.

وأن العائلة.

And every family.

تستحق مساحة للحياة.

Deserves room to live.

وأن الحي الجيد.

And a good neighborhood.

أهم من برجٍ لامع.

Matters more than a glittering tower.

في فلسفتها المعمارية.

In her architectural philosophy.

لم يكن الجمال ترفًا.

Beauty was not luxury.

بل ضرورة اجتماعية.

But a social necessity.

ولم تكن الاستدامة شعارًا.

Sustainability was not a slogan.

بل التزامًا أخلاقيًا.

But an ethical commitment.

ولم يكن التخطيط.

Planning was not.

مسألة هندسية فقط.

A technical exercise alone.

بل مسؤولية حضارية.

But a civilizational responsibility.

كانت تحذر الحكومات.

She warned governments.

من تجاهل دور المعماريين.

Against ignoring architects.

لأن المعماري الجيد.

Because a good architect.

يرى ما بعد الانتخابات.

Sees beyond election cycles.

ويرى ما بعد الأسواق.

Beyond markets.

ويرى ما بعد الأرباح.

Beyond profits.

يرى المدينة بعد خمسين عامًا.

He sees the city fifty years ahead.

ويرى الإنسان بعد جيلين.

And humanity two generations later.

لهذا لم تكن أنجيلا برادي.

That is why Angela Brady.

مجرد معمارية.

Was never merely an architect.

بل ضميرًا مهنيًا.

But a professional conscience.

ذكّر العالم.

Reminding the world.

أن العمارة ليست بناء الجدران.

That architecture is not wall-building.

بل بناء الحياة.

But life-building.

وليست صناعة المباني.

Not manufacturing structures.

بل صناعة المستقبل.

But shaping the future.

ففي زمنٍ أصبحت فيه المدن.

In an era when cities.

تُقاس بالأمتار المربعة.

Are measured in square meters.

ذكّرتنا أنجيلا برادي.

Angela Brady reminded us.

أن قيمة المدينة الحقيقية.

That the true value of a city.

تُقاس بكرامة الإنسان.

Is measured by human dignity.

وبجودة الحياة.

By quality of life.

وبقدرتها على منح الأمل.

And its ability to offer hope.

وهذا هو المعمار الحقيقي.

And that is true architecture.

حين يتحول المبنى.

When a building becomes.

إلى رسالة.

A message.

وتتحول المدينة.

And the city becomes.

إلى وعدٍ أفضل للغد.

A promise of a better tomorrow.
