﴿ أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا ﴾

The Epic of the First Explosion

“The heavens and the earth were once joined together, then We split them apart.” (Qur'an 21:30)

قبل أن تتعلم النجوم لغة الضوء.

Before the stars learned the language of light.

وقبل أن تعرف الجبال معنى الصلابة.

Before mountains understood the meaning of strength.

وقبل أن تجد البحار شواطئها.

Before oceans found their shores.

وقبل أن يرفع الإنسان عينيه نحو السماء.

Before humanity lifted its eyes toward the heavens.

كان الكون كله مختبئاً.

The entire universe was hidden.

في سرٍ واحد.

Within a single mystery.

لم تكن هناك مجرات.

There were no galaxies.

ولا شموس.

No suns.

ولا أقمار.

No moons.

ولا رياح تعبر السهول.

No winds crossing the plains.

ولا أمطار تهبط من الغيوم.

No rain descending from clouds.

بل نقطة.

Only a point.

أصغر من الخيال.

Smaller than imagination.

وأعظم من الوصف.

Yet greater than description.

داخل تلك النقطة.

Within that point.

كانت الأنديز والهيمالايا.

Were the Andes and the Himalayas.

وكان النيل والفرات والأمازون.

The Nile, Euphrates, and Amazon.

وكانت غابات الأرض كلها.

And all the forests of Earth.

وكانت وجوه البشر الذين سيولدون بعد مليارات السنين.

And the faces of people yet to be born.

مختبئة في صمت أبدي.

Hidden in eternal silence.

ثم جاء الأمر.

Then came the Command.

فارتجف العدم.

Nothingness trembled.

وانشق السكون.

Stillness broke apart.

وتحولت النقطة الواحدة.

And the single point transformed.

إلى أعظم ولادة عرفها الوجود.

Into the greatest birth existence had ever known.

﴿ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا ﴾

"They were joined together, then We split them apart."

فتدفق الضوء.

Light poured forth.

وانطلقت الطاقة.

Energy surged.

وتفتحت أبواب المكان.

The gates of space opened.

وولد الزمن.

And time was born.

كطفلٍ خرج للتو من رحم الأزل.

Like a child emerging from the womb of eternity.

كانت المجرات الأولى.

The first galaxies.

تتشكل من دوامات النار.

Taking shape from whirlwinds of fire.

وكانت النجوم.

And the stars.

تشتعل كمشاعل في ليلٍ بلا حدود.

Igniting like torches in a boundless night.

وكان الكون.

And the universe.

يتوسع كقصيدةٍ لا تعرف نهايتها.

Expanding like a poem with no ending.

مليارات السنين مرت.

Billions of years passed.

ثم ظهرت الأرض.

Then Earth appeared.

كرة زرقاء صغيرة.

A small blue sphere.

في محيطٍ كوني لا نهائي.

In an infinite cosmic ocean.

ثم جاءت الجبال.

Then came the mountains.

والبحار.

The seas.

والأشجار.

The trees.

والطيور.

The birds.

وأخيراً جاء الإنسان.

And finally came humanity.

ذلك الكائن الذي يحمل في جسده.

That being who carries within his body.

غبار نجومٍ ماتت قبل ولادته.

The dust of stars that died before his birth.

فسألت الكون ذات ليلة.

One night I asked the universe.

كيف خرج كل هذا الجمال من نقطة واحدة؟

How did all this beauty emerge from a single point?

فضحكت المجرات.

The galaxies smiled.

وقالت:

And replied:

كما تخرج الشجرة من بذرة.

As a tree emerges from a seed.

وكما يخرج البحر من قطرة.

And as an ocean emerges from a drop.

خرج العالم كله.

So the whole world emerged.

من أمرٍ واحد.

From a single command.

يا رب.

O Lord.

إذا كانت السماوات والأرض.

If the heavens and the earth.

قد خرجتا من نقطة لا تُرى.

Emerged from a point unseen.

فكيف بعظمتك التي لا تحدها حدود؟

Then what of Your greatness that knows no bounds?

وإذا كان الكون كله.

And if the entire universe.

قد كان مختبئاً في سرٍ واحد.

Was hidden within a single mystery.

فكيف بأسرار حكمتك؟

Then what of the mysteries of Your wisdom?

﴿ أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا ﴾

"The heavens and the earth were once joined together, then We split them apart."

آية قصيرة.

A short verse.

لكنها تحتوي.

Yet it contains.

ولادة الزمن.

The birth of time.

وولادة المكان.

The birth of space.

وولادة النجوم.

The birth of stars.

وولادة الإنسان.

The birth of humanity.

وقصة الكون كله.

And the story of the entire universe.
