دير الزور لا تغرق بالماءDeir ez-Zor does not drown in water.

بل تغرق بغياب الدولة.It drowns in the absence of a state.

الفرات لم يخن أحدًا.The Euphrates betrayed no one.

ولم يأتِ كعدوٍ من الظلام.Nor did it arrive as an enemy from the dark.

منذ آلاف السنين وهو يجري.For thousands of years it has flowed.

ومنذ آلاف السنين وهو يعلّم البشر.For thousands of years it has taught humanity.

لكننا نسينا لغة الأنهار.But we forgot the language of rivers.

ونسينا كيف تُبنى الحضارات.And we forgot how civilizations are built.

يا دير الزور.O Deir ez-Zor.

يا قلب الفرات السوري.Heart of the Syrian Euphrates.

يا سنبلة القمح الممتدة نحو الأفق.O wheat ear stretching toward the horizon.

يا بوابة الشرق.O gateway of the East.

لم تكوني يومًا مدينة هامشية.You were never a marginal city.

ولم تكوني يومًا بقعة منسية.Nor were you ever a forgotten land.

أنتِ أرض الماء.You are the land of water.

وأرض القمح.The land of wheat.

وأرض النخيل.The land of palms.

وأرض الصبر الطويل.The land of enduring patience.

لكنهم تركوكِ سنواتٍ طويلة.Yet they abandoned you for long years.

بين جسرٍ مؤقت.Between temporary bridges.

وساترٍ ترابي.And earthen embankments.

ومشروعٍ ناقص.And unfinished projects.

ووعدٍ لا يصل إلى الغد.And promises that never reach tomorrow.

أيُّ عبثٍ هذا؟What madness is this?

مدينةٌ تجلس على نهرٍ عظيم.A city seated beside a mighty river.

وتخاف من الماء.Yet fears the water.

مدينةٌ تملك الحياة.A city that possesses life itself.

وتعيش كأنها تنتظر الكارثة.Yet lives as if awaiting disaster.

لا تقولوا سنصلح الأضرار.Do not say we will repair the damage.

فالخراب أعمق من الإسمنت.The destruction runs deeper than concrete.

وأعمق من الجدران المنهارة.Deeper than collapsed walls.

وأعمق من الطرق الغارقة.Deeper than flooded roads.

الخراب الحقيقي.The true destruction.

أن يتكرر الخطأ نفسه.Is repeating the same mistake.

جيلاً بعد جيل.Generation after generation.

دير الزور لا تريد ترميمًا.Deir ez-Zor does not need repairs.

دير الزور تريد ميلادًا جديدًا.Deir ez-Zor needs a new birth.

تريد الفرات مشروع دولة.It needs the Euphrates to become a national project.

لا مجرّد نهرٍ للنجاة.Not merely a river of survival.

تريد سدودًا ذكية.It needs intelligent reservoirs.

وقنوات ري حديثة.Modern irrigation canals.

وخزانات استراتيجية.Strategic water storage.

ومحطاتٍ لا تغرق.And pumping stations that do not drown.

وجسورًا تعانق المستقبل.And bridges that embrace the future.

جسورًا أعلى من الخوف.Bridges higher than fear.

وأقوى من الفيضان.Stronger than the flood.

وأبعد نظرًا من السياسيين العابرين.With vision beyond passing politicians.

أيها الفرات.O Euphrates.

لم تكن كارثة.You were not a disaster.

كنتَ مرآة.You were a mirror.

رفعتَ الماء قليلًا.You raised the water only a little.

فانكشف كل شيء.And everything was revealed.

انكشفت هشاشة الطرق.The weakness of roads was exposed.

وانكشفت هشاشة الجسور.The weakness of bridges was exposed.

وانكشف غياب التخطيط.The absence of planning was exposed.

وانكشف الفرق.And the difference became clear.

بين دولةٍ تستشرف المستقبل.Between a state that anticipates the future.

ومجتمعٍ ينتظر المصيبة القادمة.And a society waiting for the next calamity.

دير الزور ليست منطقة منكوبة.Deir ez-Zor is not a disaster zone.

دير الزور كنزٌ استراتيجي.Deir ez-Zor is a strategic treasure.

من هنا يمكن أن يخرج القمح.From here can come the wheat.

ومن هنا يمكن أن تنطلق الصناعات الغذائية.From here can rise food industries.

ومن هنا يمكن أن تتدفق الطاقة.From here can flow energy.

ومن هنا يمكن أن تُحمى سوريا من الجفاف.From here Syria can be protected from drought.

كل شيء موجود.Everything already exists.

الماء.The water.

الأرض.The land.

الموقع.The location.

الإنسان.The people.

الناقص فقط.The only missing element.

هو الرؤية.Is vision.

هو التخطيط.It is planning.

هو الدولة التي تفكر بعد خمسين عامًا.It is a state that thinks fifty years ahead.

يا دير الزور.O Deir ez-Zor.

يا مدينة الشمس والتراب والفرات.City of sun, earth, and Euphrates.

إما أن تنهضي من الماء.Either rise from the water.

وتصبحي عاصمة الفرات الكبرى.And become the great capital of the Euphrates.

أو سيبقى التاريخ يكرر إنذاراته.Or history will keep repeating its warnings.

لا نريد إسعافًا.We do not want emergency aid.

لا نريد ترقيعًا.We do not want patchwork repairs.

لا نريد صورًا فوق الأنقاض.We do not want photographs above ruins.

نريد مشروع قرنٍ كامل.We want a project for an entire century.

نريد دولةً تفكر بالنهر.We want a state that thinks with the river.

كما تفكر بالنفط.As seriously as it thinks about oil.

نريد أن تتحول النعمة إلى قوة.We want blessing transformed into strength.

والماء إلى حضارة.And water transformed into civilization.

والفرات إلى مستقبل.And the Euphrates transformed into the future.

فدير الزور ليست عبئًا.For Deir ez-Zor is not a burden.

دير الزور وعد.Deir ez-Zor is a promise.

ووعد الفرات.And the promise of the Euphrates.

إذا أُحسن فهمه.If truly understood.

قد يصنع لسوريا.May build for Syria.

قرنًا جديدًا من الحياة.A new century of life.
